4evergreen is hitting the conference floors! This year, the alliance has launched a new Ambassadorship programme that will take us to major packaging and sustainability events, to spread the word about our circularity toolkit for fibre-based packaging.

The goal of the programme is to promote the adoption of 4evergreen’s guidelines and tools – which include the Recyclability Evaluation Protocol, the Circularity by Design Guideline, and the Guidance on the Improved Collection and Sorting. We also aim to share our expertise with the packaging value chain and to convey the enthusiasm and dedication at the heart of our outstanding alliance, which are the basis for our technical collaboration!

This is an intermediate step towards achieving our ultimate goal of reaching a 90% recycling rate for fibre-based packaging by 2030, up from 82.5% today. Our intermediate objectives, to be reached by 2025, are:

  • That the fibre-based industry recognises and uses 4evergreen’s recyclability evaluation protocol and its circularity by design guidelines;
  • That separate collection streams are available for all fibre-based packaging types, including those used in household, out-of-home and on-the-go consumption;
  • That all paper for recycling is sorted according to the paper and board categories specified in the EN643 standard;
  • That 100% of collected fibre-based packaging is recycled.

To reach these goals, 4evergreen representatives – industry experts selected from member organisations – will speak about the alliance and its toolkit in a series of targeted events, and 4evergreen will be present as an exhibitor in three top events in Europe:
